COACHING
Communication coaching is highly targeted one-on-one instruction. Taking place over several weeks, a coaching engagement has a personalized curriculum and instructional methodology. Like our seminars, coaching takes place at your site. Coaching differs from seminars by affording an individual undivided attention in a confidential setting.

Coaching is not for everyone. To be successful, it requires a commitment of time and energy. However, if the coachee is ready and willing, coaching can be a powerful way to make rapid, significant changes.
One-on-one instruction represents an investment in an individual’s professional development. Individuals who take part in coaching are typically extremely valuable contributors. They are motivated to demonstrate improved performance, often transforming professional relationships.
While every coaching engagement is unique, some common objectives include:
- refining presentation style
- improving pronunciation/reducing accent
- communicating more assertively
- delivering succinct messages
- increasing interpersonal awareness
- facilitating meetings
- resolving workplace conflict
- writing more accurately and efficiently
- motivating one’s staff
- making an impact with executives

Case Studies:
- Finding Her Voice
T.L. was a busy IT director who came to us wondering if one-on-one coaching was the right thing for her. As a bilingual professional in an international company, her strong communication skills were valued, as were her leadership abilities. After completing an assessment, it became clear that she wanted to touch up her pronunciation skills and enhance her professional vocabulary. Her main objective, though, was to define her own presentation style. Through coaching, she was able to increase her public speaking confidence, especially in her frequent presentations to company executives and media interviews.
- Unlocking Resourcefulness
S. G. was a member of a customer support team that worked closely with both internal customers and external vendors. His expertise was recognized, but his manager felt he was holding back in group meetings. He held aspirations of growing beyond his current professional level, so coaching seemed a good fit. Coaching helped him identify his stay-under-the-radar strategy and develop a more proactive approach. Not only did he participate in meetings, he also facilitated them and implemented a new program of guest speakers. His new assertiveness was well received by his team and management. After two months of coaching, he exceeded his annual goals.
- Adjusting to a New Environment
V.Y. was a professional with a strong record in the safety field. She had enjoyed many years of success in her former jobs. When she began to experience communication challenges at her new workplace, it came as a surprise. Working together with her management and HR representative, we came up with a coaching plan to help her adapt her communication style. She developed strategies for interacting with the technical “stars” of the company while ensuring that safety procedures were followed. She also adapted to her new team by employing a direct speaking style, more appropriate for her new high-paced site.
